Next on God's agenda in the Haitian community is a source of fresh water, which can be made possible via a connection we recently made at the Santuario (a church in San Pedro). Our friends here have a water purification ministry and seem eager to help us in the community. Please pray that this ministry will take off! What a blessing it would be to this community if DOMINICANS help provide them with water at 1/2 the price they are paying now!
A few days ago, all of us missionaries paired off to pray for one another. In just 6 minutes, my prayer partner covered my most pressing needs---BATHING them in prayer! I thought, "WOW, if I even had a few people to pray for FIVE minutes everyday, my whole time here in the DR would be dramatically different than if I DIDN'T have people praying!" SO--- I want to do MY part to write my specific needs, and you, do YOURS!
Current prayer needs: -For PROTECTION when we drive..that we never get in an accident, nor even witness one, as that would be bad news for us. -For Mita (a Haitian woman) and her family. For the complete healing of her husband, who has been throwing up blood for 5 years. -For creativity and guidance from God as Joe and I plan a makeshift youth mission trip program for next week! For planning talks, outreach and activities. -For health, cool breezes, and mosquito eaters! :) A quick excerpt from Josh's latest update from Haiti:
On a daily basis people would come in with all kinds of crazy wounds. Some with amputated arms, legs, feet, etc. in order to get checkups...a lady came in who was deaf and partially mute. The doctors and nurses gathered around here and started praying. And almost immediately she began to be able to hear. And then the translator became ecstatic because he said that she was then able to even speak properly. She was so overcome with the joy and love of God that she tore off her voodoo necklace and wanted to burn it immediately. So right there in the clinic they started a mini fire to burn the necklace, and began praising God for His overwhelming love. My friend Josh is heading to Haiti THIS MONDAY! He leaves from YWAM San Diego/Baja and plans to work with YWAM Haiti for 2 months. Please pray for him in this exciting/unsure/heartbreaking time. Pray that all of the money he needs will come in ([email protected]), that God will give him daily strength, and that he'll be able to help make a difference during his time in Haiti.
My friends, Jay and Diana Cherry have been missionaries in Haiti since September. They just left the country, as they feel there is literally nothing they can do at the moment. Please pray for them, for wisdom when they should head back, as well as for all the ones they love who are still in Haiti now.
