-I was able to be a part of two house-builds for two PRECIOUS families, both of Haitian descent. With Vanesia's house, the line that stuck with me was "I'm echanted to meet you", and with Daniela's house, it was "I loved you from the moment I met you." This Saturday is Daniela's 14th birthday, and I hope to surprise her with a photo album full of pics of their house, before, during and after the build.
- There are so MANY wonderful Dominican women here! When you are driving on the streets, however, it seems like this is a country full of mostly men (because there are so many out on their sidewalks playing dominoes). I have met women who love and serve God with all their hearts, who provide for their families, who have opened their dream businesses, who get powerful ministries going, and who love and accept ME!
- The sweet kids at the Haitian Batey really are something to be thankful for! They start DANCING when they see us coming down the road! They dance and jump up and down, and then run and grab a hold of our legs, hugging us so much that we have to peel them off!
-I'm very thankful that I got to teach kickboxing 4 days a week! I taught at a dance studio to a class with people from the D.R., America, Mexico, and Argentina! I also have loved the privalege to teach at a school with kids who are Compassion International children. Every Tuesday, the kids get fit for 45 mins, even in their jeans and little sandals!
I hope that in these last two weeks I have here, my eyes will be opened to "precious moments", and that my heart can soak in all that this country has to bless me with!
