As we all approach the end of 2011, we look back over highlights of the year. For me, I had this chance, the day before I left the Dominican Republic. With the other 5 YWAM staff, Joe and I shared the highlights of our last 5 1/2 months serving in the D.R.
It's always a highlight to do what you love, for the Glory of God. For me, that was teaching fitness to impoverished children, encouraging fellow missionaries, and teaching and discipling local Dominican women.
It's always a highlight to be pushed to new limits. For me, that was building homes in the heat and rain, organizing games and songs with children who don't speak my same language, and driving in a country with minimal traffic laws!
It's always a highlight to see transformation. For me, that was hearing Dominican youth share about the new life they have in the Lord. It was seeing Haitian children sit quietly and excitedly listen to bible stories and lessons. It was knowing that YWAM San Pedro wouldn't have been the same without Joe and me.
Our season in the D.R. is over, but the highlights will forever remain in our hearts.
